Ryan Leslie – Beautiful Lie [Video]

I love anything that Ryan comes out with. The kids so easy to root for and has the talent to go along with it. Ry also does a bit of rapping as he takes us on a trip to Paris for this video-the black and white is growing on me also...

Cortez – Lookin For Trouble ft. Sha Stimuli & Mickey Factz

Cortez has a mixtape, XXL Freshmen: I’m In A Class All By Myself, hosted by DJ Me$$iah dropping December 6th. With this track, he brings in a couple familiar names to so real hip hop fans in Mikey Factz and Sha. These guys kill it over the Kanye instrumental.

David Dallas - Feel Like Oasis ft. Tayyib Ali [Video]

Performance footage from David Dallas's NYC Rose Tint release party at Mercury Lounge with Tayyib Ali, Just Blaze, Buckshot & Peter Rosenberg.

Previous: David Dallas - Ain't Coming Down ft. Buckshot [Video]

Soul Khan - Someone's Pocket (prod. Audible Doctor)

Soul Khan is finally back with a brand new EP, titled Pursuance, that will be dropping on December 6th. This track, produced by Audible Doctor, is our first look at that 5-track EP by the Brown Bag Allstar. Hit the jump to see the full tracklist.

Chris Brown - Complicated ft. Asher Roth

A preview of this track was floating around back in the summer months. Now, we have the full CDQ version for all to enjoy. Before Breezy's album F.A.M.E. dropped, Asher was mentioned as one of the artists that was scheduled to be featured on it. Since the album has now been out and there was no sighting of Roth, we can assume that this track came from the F.A.M.E. recording sessions, but did not make the final cut for whatever reason.

Common vs. Nas [Video]

For the next installment of Court Dunn's "VERSES" series, Common Sense takes on Nas' classic verse from "Life's A Bitch". I think it's about time somebody takes on a Common verse from either "6th Sense" or "I Used To Love H.E.R."

Previous: Donnis vs. Andre 3000 [Video]

QuESt - The Memories (prod. Mt. Eden)

QuESt and the New Zealand production duo are back with the follow-up to their first track and are trying to duplicate the success that "The Walk" had. Although he doesn't go in as hard on this one, QuESt's lyrical content definitely takes a step up. Be on the lookout for his next project, Fear Not Failure, to be dropping sometime next year.

Previous: QuESt - The Walk (prod. Mt. Eden)

Emilio Rojas - Lord Knows Freestyle

Emilio keeps it going by doing what he does best over the Just Blaze-produced track from Take Care. The game needs The Breaking Point, like, yesterday. Could the wait be due to a big move coming soon? We could only hope.

Jay-Z & Kanye West - N*ggas In Paris [Live]

There's really nothing much better then Victoria's Secret models and hip-hop. If you were one of the few people to miss last night's Victoria's Secret Show, then shame on you. Luckily you can check out the performance that Ye and Hov did during the show. As for the rest of the good stuff, well, that's what the internet is for.

A$AP Rocky - Peso [Live] x Speaks on Drake, Pharrell, etc. [Video]

While performing out at The Music Box in Hollywood, Kendrick Lamar brings out A$AP Rocky to perform a standout track, and my personal favorite, from the Harlem native's LiveLoveA$AP mixtape. Also, you can hit the jump to check out an interview with HipHopAtLunch in which he discusses missing Drake's album release party, Pharrell's opinion of his mixtape, and more.

Previous: A$AP Rocky - Demons [Video]

Mac Lethal - Look At Me Now Freestyle [Video]

For whatever reason, Mac decided to label this video "Nerdy white kid KILLS "Look at me now" (while cooking)". Guessing he thought that that would generate more views, since way too many people aren't aware of what a Mac Lethal is. Similar to his response video to "Pale Kid Raps Fast", Mac lets loose some quick bars over the very popular "Look At Me Now" track and proves that he can compete with any of the other choppers in the game. Oh, and did I mention that he cooks breakfast while he does it?

November 29, 2011

Avicii - Levels [Video]

I'm not usually one to speak on music of the electronic/dubstep/house/etc. genres, but Avicii's "Levels" is so catchy that even I play it routinely. I really didn't see the video for this track going anything like this, but it really does make sense being that I wanna do exactly the same thing as that guy every time I hear it.

ScHoolboy Q - Sacriligeous [Video]

The Black Hippy member shows his darker side on this joint that will be featured on his upcoming HABITS & Contradictions project that drops soon. If anybody needs a quick catchup on Q's music, go right ahead and download his free album, Setbacks, that dropped nearly a year ago. It surely won't disappoint and you'll know what to expect from his new project when it finally comes out.

Mike Posner - Looks Like Sex

We were given a short preview of this track on Mike Posner's very dope The Layover mixtape. Now, the full version is available for all to enjoy. This track will serve as the first single off his sophomore album, Sky High, which will drop sometime in 2012. Look for more info on that project to be coming soon.

A$AP Rocky - Demons [Video]

Our artist of the month puts out some visuals to go with this track that was cut a little while ago. We look forward to see what else this young talent puts out in 2012...

The Roots - One Time ft. Phonte & Dice Raw

How about one more track from The Roots crew before their album, undun, drops on December 6th. This standout track (at least by looking at the tracklist) features Phonte and Dice Raw.

Maffew Ragazino - Unsigned Hype Freestyle [Video]

Ragazino Sr. stops by The Source Magazine's offices in New York City to shoot this video for his Unsigned Hype freestyle. You better believe he murders it. If you haven't already, make sure you go download his Rhyme Pays album for free right now as it is one of the most slept on projects of the year.

Zak Downtown - Rock The Show ft. Hoodie Allen

The first collaboration from these two pop-influenced rappers will be featured on Zak's upcoming project, Downtown Delinquents.

Quiet Storm - Name In Lights [Mixtape]

We've been supporting his #MSH Mondays series for quite some time. Now, the Long Island artist that goes by the name of Quiet Storm has finally released his full project, titled Name In Lights. This track project really portrays Storm lyrical abilities that we've gotten used to hearing every Monday for the past few weeks. The homie is definitely about to #MakeShitHappen. So, without further adieu, hit the jump to download Quiet Storm's Name In Lights.

Kasual Kas - Floyd Mayweather (#TheMoneyTeam) [Video]

Kas takes us on a trip to Miami with the video for his new single "Floyd Mayweather". The video, directed by Michael "Taranchino" Chow, personifies MONEY. Chino incorporates the beauty of Miami with swift style like Mayweather in the ring. He also incorporates a bit of footage of a Floyd fight. Be on the look out for future projects by both of these dudes. For now, sit back, relax and enjoy the movie.

King Louie - Too Cool (Remix) ft. 2 Chainz & Red Cafe

The original Louie track hit the blogs a little while ago, but now he's enlisted some respected names in hip-hop in 2 Chainz and Red Cafe to bulk up the remix. Each artist is pretty tight on this track and the slow video game like beat might lull you to sleep; it makes me feel drunk...and I've been sober for at least 5 straight hours now.

G-Scott - Michael G. Scott [FreEP]

G-Scott drops off his first project, a 7-track EP, since becoming the newest member of Freddie Gibbs Str8 Slammin' fam. This free project includes features from Boldy James, Mic Terror, and more, and gives us a little taste of what he's been working on leading up to when his Weekend In Los Vegas album drops early next year. Hit the jump for the tracklist and download link.

Chip Tha Ripper - Hold Me Down ft. Eric Grant

Chip links up with Eric Grant of the O'Jays for this smooth track sampling Ice Cube's "Today Was A Good Idea". With the leaks we've heard so far, Chip's upcoming Tell Ya Friends project is shaping up to be one of his best yet.

Afrojack - Lionheart

Although this track surfaced a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't deprive the people of what's HOT! Afrojack is one of the rising stars (#7 DJ in the WORLD!) with the sudden emergence of house music in the US. "Lionheart" is nothing short of what fans have come to expect from Afrojack and is definitely worth the listen. This track is currently played exclusively by David Guetta & Pete Tong and is exclusively available for purchase at

Sir Michael Rocks (of The Cool Kids) - Too Short Back ft. Shorty K & Tris J [Video]

Biiiiitch! Here goes the set of visuals for Mikey Rocks ode to the Bay Area rapper. Off the Cool Kid's Premier Politics mixtape.

Elliott Smith - Misery Let Me Down: Lost Recordings

Eight years after his passing, Elliott Smith is still blessing the world with is mellow, yet upbeat melodies and unique whispering voice. In 1997, the University of Maryland radio station, WMUC, invited Smith to perform live in the stations studio. Somehow these recordings were lost. Now, 14 years later, the recordings have surfaced and in those recordings was a previously unreleased track titled "Misery Let Me Down". Hope you enjoy it.

B.o.B - E.P.I.C. (Every Play Is Crucial) [Mixtape]

Bobby Ray is finally back with a new mixtape, E.P.I.C., to serve as a preview to his sophomore album, Strange Clouds, that drops in the Spring. Features include Meek Mill, Playboy Tre, Eminem, Roscoe Dash, T.I., Mos Def, and more. If that lineup doesn't get you excited, I'm not too sure what else would! Hit the jump for the full tracklist and download link.

Taio Cruz - World In Our Hands x Shotcaller

Two new tracks from Taio's upcoming sophomore album, TY.0, that drops this December. This first track, titled "World In Our Hands" hits heavy with meaning even though it's a bit slower then Taio's normal style. On the other hand, "Shotcaller" is a club/radio ready smash that should be all over that airwaves shortly.

Taio Cruz - World In Our Hands

Taio Cruz - Shotcaller

Danny Brown - Blunt After Blunt [Video]

Detroit's Danny Brown is having a breakout year with the release of both XXX and the Black & Brown EP. What better way to visualize a track called "Blunt After Blunt" then to sit Danny in a room full of candles, with Colt45s on the table, and smoking blunts. Even cooler is that the video was directed by ASAP Rocky.

Previous: Danny Brown & Black Milk - Black & Brown [Video]

Denzil Porter - Kanye West [Video]

This kid from the Bronx is bringing the fun back to Hip-Hop while keeping it lyrically correct with this track; the title no doubt sparks from Kanye's much publicized personality as of the last few years. The track can be found on Denzil's newly released mixtape Homemade Music, which he put out just in time for Thanksgiving. There is definitely a lot this kid has to be thankful for and is sure to blow up soon.

Michael Jackson- Immortal (The Album)

Immortal the album is a transformation of MJ's greatest hits by Cirque du Soliel soundtracks for the Cirque production "The Immortal World Tour". The music is altered to give it a real Cirque feel. I gotta agree with when they said that "[n]ot that Jackson's hits need the help, which is perhaps why less is changed than more." The album is available everywhere and the tour starts December 3 in Vegas; here's a Megamix of some very memorable Michael tracks to hold you over until then.

Brandon Vee - Put It On Repeat [Video]

It's artists like 23 year old Brandon Vee from New York that make you realize how much talent is out there that goes unrecognized. Don't let the low-budget video turn you away, because this kid really goes in. "Put It On Repeat" is a track that could find its way onto Brandon's upcoming project, The Journey, that's due out sometime in the Spring of 2012. We'll be keeping our eyes out for that as the date grows closer.

Kasual Kas - Floyd Mayweather (#TheMoneyTeam)

This single from Kas shows his cocky attitude and was picked to be the new walk in music for Floyd Mayweather's undefeated fighter Jessie Vargas, who is signed with Mayweather Promotions. Produced by Ballistik Beatz, this track will definitely motivate you to get your money up!

Tyga - Rack City

Speaking of Young Money and their above average ability to create socially conscious music (wish there was a sarcasm font), Tyga released this extended version of "Rack City", which was originally a stand-out track from his Well Done 2 mixtape. This new version will be a featured single on his upcoming sophomore album, Careless World: Rise of the Last King, that drops on December 20th. Ironically, my first time hearing this track was last night. So it was great to see a new, full version being released today.

Birdman - Y.U. Mad ft. Nicki Minaj & Lil Wayne [Video]

Young Money may represent nearly all that is wrong with hip-hop today, but they sure do know how to make tracks that the kids enjoy. Even though their anti-progressive subject matter eats me up inside when I hear it, they hide it so damn well behind dope beats and catchy as hell hooks. So, yeah, that's why I'm mad. Anyway, enjoy this new single from Birdman's upcoming Bigga Than Life album, if you're into that kinda thing.

Oliver Tank - Up All Night

If you're looking for a good song to add to your workout playlist, this isn't it. Oliver Tank has his own unique style, creating simple yet beautifully orchestrated soundscapes. His delicate, mysterious style of singing perfectly meshes in with his musical arrangements. His tunes are most definitely mellow, but don't mistake that for boring. Tank creates melodies that will draw you deep into the song and will make you want to listen to it over and again. Here's a track off his latest EP, Dreams.

Nickelback - Here and Now

For more than a decade Nickelback has been rockin' it with their heavy riffs and Kroegers amazing vocals. However, I regret to inform you that Nickelback fans may be a little disappointed with their new album Here and Now. As Nickelback has squeezed its way into the mainstream it seems (and I hate to say this) that they have been just phoning it in as of late. Their last album Dark Horse showed some symptoms of pop-rock fever but this years Here and Now has got it full blown. The musical arrangement has is weak compared to previous albums and the lyrics are even weaker. Here's one of the more solid songs on the album, "Midnight Queen" but, I'll let you decide for yourself.

TR3 - Victory Express

When guitar guru Tim Reynolds isn't jammin' with Dave Matthews he's rockin' out with TR3. If you're expecting sweet soothing sounds of an acoustic guitar, well then your ears are in for a surprise. TR3 takes a different road than Dave does, creating a concoction of mostly heavy instrumental blues/rock fused with melodic riffs that make the guitar seem likes its singing. Here's a track off his new album From Space and Beyond.

Two new tracks from Talib Kweli and Mos Def (yes, I will continue to call him that) to celebrate #BlackStarFriday. The first one, "You Already Knew", is produced by Oh No and is the first official single from their upcoming Aretha Franklin trubit album, titled Black Star Aretha.  The other, "Fix Up", is produced by Madlib and serves as the first official single from their upcoming album.

Now, he's dropping the second installment of his Slime Flu series as a free project. If this is anything like it's predecessor, then it's a must download. Hit the jump for the tracklist and link.

The Weeknd - The Knowing [Video]

It seems that the mystery behind the artist known as The Weeknd has begun to fade. This marks Abel's first official music video from either of his first two projects. Hopefully this will mean more visuals from the Toronto-based R&B artist in the near future.

QuESt - The Walk (prod. Mt. Eden)

Finally, a real emcee jumps into the dupstep/hip-hop scene with production done by the duo known as Mt. Eden. It will be interesting to see if this Miami artist known as QuESt continues to take this route with new music in the future because it's certainly something I would be interested in hearing more of.

Nicki Minaj Announces New Album

Snoop Dogg & Wiz Khalifa - Young, Wild, & Free ft. Bruno Mars [Video]

Posts will most likely be sporadic over the next few days due to the holidays, but this is one video we couldn't pass up. This set of visuals include some previews of Mac and Devin's upcoming film, High School Musical: Weedhead Edition. Keep an ear out for the soundtrack to that to drop sometime soon as well.

November 22, 2011

Chris Cornell - The Keeper

It seems that Chris Cornell has hit a point in his career where he can do no wrong. His euphoric voice has established him as one of the great rock voices of all time. His release of Songbook is no exception. His ability to create such an intimate setting and to perform at such a superb level is mind blowing. Here's a track off his latest release. I hope you enjoy it.

This marks the first official release from Jon Connor's Season 2 mixtape that will finally be dropping on December 12th. The world better be prepared.

Kendrick Lamar - Rigamortus (remix) ft. Busta Rhymes

One of the most stand-out tracks from Kendrick's very dope Section.80 album gets the Busta Rhymes treatment. Hold on folks.

T.I. - Pyro

TIP let the word go yesterday that his upcoming album would be called Trouble Man, naming it after a song by the great Marvin Gaye. He also promised a new single from that project would be on its way shortly and here is said single, titled "Pyro". The man has been on a roll since his recent release from prison, so we're hoping that this success will carry over onto his new album.

WZRD (KiD CuDi & Dot Da Genius) - Brake

Scott Mescudi's new project will take a direction unlike any other that he has attempted before. Together with Dot Da Genius (the producer behind Cudi's "Day N Nite" smash), the duo are putting an album out under the name WZRD. The album will have a "punk rock" energy and will also be without any cursing at all (doesn't punk rock and cursing go hand-in-hand?). Tell us what you think about the first taste of this project.

Statik Selektah - Play The Game ft. Big K.R.I.T. & Freddie Gibbs [Video]

Kenton Dunson - Beautiful Fight [Video]

"The theme of this track is universal but it came from a very personal place. I was sitting at a keyboard during a session and started playing with a piano/vocal idea. I didn't like it after a few I sampled and chopped it. "Beautiful Fight" was born. I stepped to the mic and went on an honest vent about my venture as an artist. Eventually I found that people could relate it to their own situation. The title itself is oxymoronic but it's ultimately an optimistic song. This is definitely a fight, but as long as you know why you started it, you'll figure out how to finish it.

I was fortunate to link up with AtomEvolve, an immensely talented video production crew. They are pure artists. They have the same approach to their craft as I do to my own. They were fans of the music before the video shoot even came into consideration. So this turned out to be an amazing experience where we collectively took the song to the next level." - Kenton Dunson

Mike Posner - Traveling Man (prod. Mike Posner & Raw Talent)

I'm definitely a little drunk right now, but this track has been waited on quite some time and it will not be featured on Mike Posner's mixtape that drops tomorrow so make sure you download it now while you can. Tomorrow, The Layover drops, so everybody better get ready for the Mike Posner takeover!

There was no way I was missing two weeks in a row of #PhilAdeFridays. This time he links up with Kevin Ross on the hook. - T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever) ft. Mick Jagger & Jennifer Lopez

Black Eyed Peas member has the exceptional ability to stay one-step ahead of the music business when it comes to the sound of his music (look back to Black Eyed Peas hits from years ago and tell me the sound isn't very similar to music dropping now). With the first single from his solo album, #WillPower, he links up with Mick Jagger and the beautiful Jennifer Lopez for a sure-fire radio hit.

Young Jeezy - F.A.M.E. ft. T.I. [Video]

Justin Bieber Hot 97 Freestyle [Video]

Mac Miller on Debuting #1 on Billboard [Video]

While on his tour bus, Mac chops it up with Sway on MTV's RapFix to discuss the success of his debut album, Blue Slide Park. That makes him the first indie artist to reach that feat since Tha Dogg Pound did so in 1995.
