KJ Hines - Up & Down [Video]

This young artist out of Austin, TX not only brings nice flow and rhymes over this track with a catchy hook, but the part that caught my attention the most was the message that he is trying to convey. It's important that new artists have a real meaning to the things that they're rapping about. Not only is it refreshing to hear, but you can also feel the emotion coming out of the artist because of how passionate they are about the subject.
"This track is pretty much a reaction to the everyday struggles we all face as human beings. I begin things off by talking about some of the down falls I was experiencing at the time and then I go into talking with a girl about her life and the struggles her life is presenting her with. I am very proud of this track and I hope you all feel it as much as I do." - KJ

Don't be deterred by the name, this "Deer Tick" won't do you any harm. In fact, it will do exactly opposite that. This is a great new band with a simple sound that will make you wanna grab a six pack, post up on your front porch on warm summer nights, and scream along with the lyrics. Here's Deer Tick with a single off their new album, Divine Providence.

Mac Miller Speaks on His 2011 [Video]

The whole album coming out was probably the #1 highlight,” Mac told MTV News of his independently released Blue Slide Park. “I remember putting out the album and being really curious about what critics had to say about it because I felt like I made this album from the heart and it was by far my best work.”

Unfortunately for Mac, the album reviews did not satisfy his expectations. To him, it seemed that the critics just didn’t get it, and he began doubting whether or not he put out the right album. That was until his fans reassured him that he made the right move.

“All people of all different ages everywhere coming up to me and genuinely telling me how much they like the album,” Mac recalled. “That’s definitely the highlight, seeing this music that I’ve created and just seeing how much more powerful people are than publications. That’s who I make music for.

Reks & Statik Selektah - Autograph

When it comes to dope collaborative hip-hop projects, producer Statik Selektah certainly knows what the hell he is doing. Already under his belt are albums with Action Bronson, Saigon, Termanology, Freeway, and his own solo album with a number of respectable artists featured. Now he's gearing up for another collab with one of the most slept-on names in the game - Reks. This smooth cut is our first taste of Straight, No Chaser, which will be dropping in the early parts of 2012. What a great way to start the new year.

Our Lady Peace - Heavyweight

Here's a blast from the past for ya'll. Our Lady Peace is back with a brand new single. And its pretty damn good. It seems that they haven't lost their touch as their new single packs a punch with an adrenaline pumping riff while still being musically elegant with Raine Maida's almost eerie vocals. Hopefully this means a new album is somewhere on the horizon. For now we will have to hold ourselves over with their new single "Heavyweight".

Frank Ocean - 4 Tears

DJ Earworm - United States of Pop 2011 (World Go Boom) [Video]

On behalf of us here at BTH, we would like to wish every a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. We apologize for how incredibly slow we've been the last few days but that should all change shortly. I would like to start off by sharing DJ Earworm's 2011 wrap-up consisting of 25 of the year's most popular songs all mashed up.
"It doesn't match Billboard's U.S. year-end list, since I'm basing it off of the weekly lists this year in order to more accurately reflect what was actually popular during 2011. Because of the Billboard's early cut off date and their emphasis on chart longevity, songs that are released after August are either split between the two years or moved to the next year. I also don't want a track appearing two years in a row just because it happened to be peaking right at the arbitrary cutoff date. From my perspective, a song belongs in the year it peaked, not the year it ended its long run. For instance, "We Found Love", which has been #1 for the last 8 weeks of the year, is nowhere to be seen in Billboard's Top 25, and may not make it next year either. This year-end bias seems inaccurate to me, and I want to more truly reflect the pop music scene from the American perspective."

XV - The Kick [Video]

There's very little music that XV drops that disproves that he will be the next big thing in hip-hop. Among the 50 candidates for XXL's 2012 Freshman Class honor, this Wichita, KS emcee is certainly one of the most deserving. Between all of the free projects that he's dropped in the past few years, getting signed to Warner, and a hit single with Pusha T, 2012 is bound to be Vizzy's year to take over.

Justin Bieber - Who Shot Ya Freestyle [Video]

Justin Bieber stopped by Cosmic Kev's recently and decided to lay a few down over Biggie's classic hit. Could this kid actually be trying to take a rap career seriously? Because it certainly sounds like he's dumbed it down a bit from his previous sessions and is trying hard to go off the top. Christopher Wallace must be turning in his grave.

Third Eye Blind - If There Ever Was a Time

Yes, Third Eye Blind is still in existence. While these guys haven't had any big hits like "Semi-Charmed Life" and "Never Let You Go" for quite some time, they have been quietly creating great music since those chart topping albums. However, the guys have been creating a little more noise recently than their previous few albums have. Third Eye Blind tackles a controversial topic in their latest single "If There Ever Was a Time". On this tune lead vocalist Stephan Jenkins voices his opinion on Occupy Wall-Street. I'll let you listen for yourself and figure out what his stance is on the issue.

All-American Rejects - Someday's Gone

For almost ten years now the All-American Rejects have been creating and sharing their amazing musical talents. "Someday's Gone" is no exception. Over the years rock music has been somewhat ousted of the mainstream community, but somehow the "Rejects" crash through that wall and flood the radio waves with their tunes that somehow are able to be catchy yet make you wanna mosh where you stand. Be sure to be on the lookout for their new album titled Kids in the Street hittin' the shelves in the new year.

Outasight - Let's Go

Back in October, P-Willi and I got to enjoy Outasight open up for west coast band the Dirty Heads right near where we live on Long Island. Unfortunately, Dirty Heads fans weren't enjoying OU's music as much as we were, so he had to end his performance a tad bit short (that's the nice way of putting it). We got to meet up with OU after he was finished and he was real cool about the whole situation. I mean, if I were him I'd be pretty pissed about basically getting booed off stage. Seems like he's got the last laugh though, as his single 'Tonight Is The Night' has seen tons of success since and now he's got another monster record with the release of 'Let's Go'. Keep doing your thing man.

Koncept - Getting Home ft. Sene (prod. J57) [Video]

Koncept hits us with another set of visuals from his new album, awaken, that was finally released today on iTunes. Go cop that now to support some dope music from the Brown Bag Allstar.

Drake's 2012 "Club Paradise Tour" Dates Released

October's Very Own will finally be taking his sophomore album around the country and across the pond when he begins his "Club Paradise Tour" this upcoming February. Starting on the 14th, Drake will play 17 shows across the U.S. and then follow that up with 18 more shows throughout Europe. Special guests Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky will join him on the nearly two and a half month adventure.

My only complaint is that with this being one of the most anticipated tours around next year, why is there is not a single stop in the Northeast?

50 Cent - I Just Wanna ft. Tony Yayo [Video]

Already two videos have been released for tracks off 50's new mixtape, The Big 10. Although, this one may have been released just a bit earlier then it was supposed to. It seems that 50 and Interscope Records aren't exactly on the same page right now about the release of his new single with Jeremih and he's letting them hear it via his Twitter machine. Well, while he continues on his rant, we get to enjoy this.

Jared Evan - Anywhere ft. Pharrell & Game

Jared's last project, unCOVERED, consisted of ten classic tracks from various artists that he remade into his own. So, it's been quite a while since we've last heard any new, original material from the Interscope artist. Hopefully this track, which features Pharrell and Game, is a preview to what else is coming in the near future from Jared because he has been spending a bit of in the studio with these two.

J.Good - The Art Of Getting By ft. Ced Hughes (prod. Rufio)

The last time we gave you a look at Sacramento artist was his video for 'Rolling Stone' off his Look On The Bright Side mixtape. Now, he's back right where he left off with a new single that will be featured on his upcoming collaborative project with producer Rufio, called Searching for Alicia Silverstone. Keep your eye out for that to be dropping just before Christmas.

T.I. - Hear Ye, Hear Ye ft. Pharrell [Video]

Since his release from jail, not too many artists have been on their music grind as hard as TIP has. On this new single, he links up with Skateboard P. Expect big things from the King of the South in 2012, including a new mixtape.

Jon Connor - Season 2 [Mixtape]

This may have dropped at noon today, but I was too busy listening to it on repeat to share it with everyone. Flint, Michigan's Jon Connor has been turning heads all over the internet since he dropped Season One over a year ago. Since then, he's released an album, The Salvation, and a number of other remixes and freestyles of popular tracks in which he pretty much embarrasses each of the original artists. Now, after the rumors of Season 2 being in the making for over 6 months, Jon Connor releases the follow-up to his successful mixtape just in time to enjoy as the year comes to a close. Go right ahead and hit the jump for the tracklist and download link and enjoy one of my most anticipated projects in quite some time. Nap time is over. It's time to stop sleeping on Jon Connor.

XV - Chaka Shao Khan (prod. DJ Tech-Neek)

"In the Christmas spirit, XV takes to his soundcloud to release some NEW music. With producer of XV’s “The Kick”, DJ Tech-Neek, flipping an ill Chaka Khan sample that feels soulful, powerful and flawless…XV creates, 'Chaka Shao Khan'."

WZRD (KiD CuDi & Dot Da Genius) - WZRD [Artwork]

CuDi's upcoming project with Dot Da Genius seems to be getting pretty serious, as the official artwork has been revealed. The two together, who go be WZRD, will drop a self-titled album on January 30th. It has been said that CuDi's sound will be completely different than anything else he has done before. Although that idea hasn't really gotten such great responses from critics and fans, you have to remember that even Kanye's 808s & Heartbreaks didn't get such warm reviews either when the idea was first released. We'll have to wait until the album finally drops at the end of January to be able to get a real feel for "dat new new" KiD CuDi.

Danny Brown - Monopoly [Video]

Not the first set of trippy visuals we have seen recently, but Danny Brown continues to drop new videos from his previously released XXX album. For anybody out there that is not familiar with the Detroit rapper's work, 'Monopoly' serves as a great example as to how Danny's unconventional flow works on a track. There really aren't too many artists out there that you can compare his style too, which is part of the reason that his music stands out to me. It's always great to hear some originality in hip hop music.

Robin Thicke's Response To Daniel Merriweather's Diss

It's sad to see that Twitter has become the newest medium for sending "disses" between artists. Smh. At least this new episode of R&Beef took a comical turn when Robin Thicke proclaimed he had no idea who Daniel Merriweather even was. Genius, or just plain arrogant? You be the judge.

50 Cent - Queens, NY ft. Paris [Video]

Fif drops off these visuals for one of the standout tracks from his newest mixtape, The Big 10. Ladies and gentlemen, 50 Cent may finally be back to his old self.

Lupe Fiasco – American Terrorist III

Luckily for everyone who reads this blog without a twitter, I follow Mr. Fiasco on twitter ( @backslashgio...shameless plug). He released this one on twitter over the weekend and recently Lupe's got debating making some "Vote for Lupe" t-shirts.

Meek Mill – House Party ft. Young Chris [Video]

Finally a video for this new age kid and play track. It's not quite the flow and fun that Kid, Play and Martin Lawrence brought to some parties; but Meek and Chris definitely do their thing on this one.

Busta Rhymes – Can You Keep Up? ft. Twista

MEEP MEEP! It's Tony Stewart vs. Jimmy Johnson in a race to see who's the faster MC. Busta and Twista are like a shake and bake combo like no other on this track. You can't help but feel like Busta has been on a mission to get faster since the whole youtube sensation of "Look At Me Now" covers started...try n' keep up.
