The Postelles - 123 Stop

I knew when I had this song playing on repeat that is was time to share it with the blog world. I dont know about you guys, but this song is pretty damn catchy and I just cant seem to get it out of my head. The Postelles are a NYC based band that has a Vampire Weekend meets The Strokes feel and definitely seem to have some talent. Check out their self titled debut album out now!

Sublime with Rome - Can You Feel It Ft. Wiz Khalifa

So, there has been some controversy floating around the emergence of the "new" Sublime. All I see here is a great track from a great band that wants to carry on the legacy of a great frontman. I understand that Sublime isnt the same since the passing of Bradley Nowell, but thats why they are now Sublime WITH Rome, emphasis on the with. Rome is not replacing Bradley, he is simply joining up with the remaining members of Sublime to create some new music. I would think that Bradley Nowell would have wanted the legacy of Sublime to live on even after his passing. With that being said, enjoy this new track from Sublime with Rome and check out their new album, Yours Truly, dropping July 12th.

Tyler, The Creator - Transylvania [Unofficial Video]

High 5 Collective did another great job with this unofficial music video for Tyler's Goblin track. This is pretty much the kinda video I would expect from OF anyway.

Drake - Marvin's Room (prod. 40) [Video]

And now all I wanna see is an official video from JoJo's version.

araabMUZIK - Burn [Documentary]

The man behind some of the fastest fingers on an MPC I've ever seen links up with Burn Energy Drink for a quick little documentary about the Dipset producer.
In December of 2010 Burn Energy Drink (A Coca-Cola Brand) put out a call for treatment submissions for a series of web films they were commissioning. Having recently worked with the young producer/MPC (Music Production Center) savant Araabmuzik, Director Alec Sutherland was inspired to create an installation that could be a real time, visual articulation of Araab’s actions on the MPC. The treatment for this idea was submitted and selected by Burn. The shoot lasted two-days: the first spent documenting Araab in everyday situations accompanied by audio excerpts from a candid interview. The second was spent at Broadway Stages in Greenpoint Brooklyn, building the light setup and finally, recording Araab’s performance. This film has been completed for months but we were unable to release it do to Burn’s brand repositioning. Recently, they gave us a choice: release the film now on your own, or wait until August when Burn/Coca-Cola will put their corporate weight behind it. We have decided to release it now because we would like people to see it as something other than an advertisement. Thank you and we hope you enjoy. – FreeOnSmash

Black Stone Cherry - Like I Roll

If your a fan of the Black Crowes, then you will definitely be a fan of Black Stone Cherry. I'd say they are a hybrid of the Black Crowes with a dash of some good old fashioned hard rock. Check out their new album Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea.

Listening to Donald Glover's EP the other day at work, I put it in my mind that I just had to see him perform sometime soon. So, I went home, googled his upcoming shows, and found one in NYC...that happened the previous night. Pissed. Guess I'll have to keep my eye out for the next one.

DviousMindZ - Painkillers For A Broken Heart 3: newLove [Instrumental EP]

Click the picture to stream/download

It's been too long since we've heard a new instrumental project from the dude DviousMindZ. The first two parts of this series still get some rotation around my parts. Hopefully we'll get to hear some more work from Jo Well and Dvious in the near future as well.

Simple Plan - Can't Keep My Hands Off You ft. Rivers Cuomo

Heres a track off Simple Plans 4th studio album, Get Your Heart On!. Also, for your listening pleasure, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo makes a guest appearance in this track. Being a huge Weezer/Rivers fan I had to make this the featured track I posted for this album. Oh and yes, the new Simple Plan album is pretty awesome also.

Another stand-out track from Mania! gets a set of visuals.

Mike Bhaiya - They Didn't Know

Mike Bhaiya (pronounced "bye-uh") lets go of the first leak from his upcoming DJ Green Lantern presented The Universe Is Dreaming Vol. 1 mixtape. Not too sure what a Mike Bhaiya is but I can get into some more of this.

Vast Aire - The Verdict ft. Guilty Simpson

"A track on Vast Aire's album "Ox 2010: A Street Odyssey" that was years in the making and long overdue was "The Verdict" f/Guilty Simpson. The track brings the two underground titian's together for the first time and it does not disappoint. Much like the pairing of a nice wine, so matches the production from Ayatollah, laying the foundation for these two legendary MC's to build upon."

J. Cole Sets Album Date & Title

J. Cole took to his Twitter machine a few hours ago to let the world know that his premier album has an official release date of September 27, 2011 (I'll believe it when I see it). He also let loose of the album title that can be seen under the jump.

Being a new blog, we don't get too many submissions from artists that we've never heard of. But, when we do we always take the time to give them a listen. I'm really glad I opened this e-mail up because it's fire.  22-year-old J.Nolan from Atlanta brings everything together that you look for in a track on this one that's gonna be featured on his upcoming Chaos Theory project. Lupe Fiasco vs. Bill O'Reilly [Video]

Click the picture to watch the video

Next up on the battle between rappers and the infamous Bill O'Reilly is none other then Lupe Fiasco. While I understand the points that Lupe is trying to make to Bill, I don't believe the way he's conveying them to him are as strong or impressionable as the way Jon Stewart took on the Common controversy.

Apathy - Check To Check (prod. Evidence)

"Apathy is preparing to take his career to another level with the release of his third-solo LP, Honkey Kong, which will be released on 8-23-2011. The Connecticut emcee and The Get Busy Committee (Apathy, Scoop Deville and Ryu released Uzi Does It in October 2010) and AOTP member has undeniably crafted his best project to date and it includes production from Apathy, DJ Premier, DJ Muggs, Statik Selektah, Evidence, Da Beatminerz and Teddy Roxpin among others. This track with Ruler Zig-Zag-Zig Allah serves as the third single from K. Dot's Section 80 album that's dropping July 2nd.

Casey Veggies - Discreet (prod. Chuck Inglish)

Casey + Chuck = dope music. And a big congrats to Casey on graduating high school this past week. You can check out an interview of him talking to MTV about his ability to juggle making music, performing, and class work.

Special thanks to P.Willi for holding it down the last few days.

Ziggy Marley - Wild and Free ft. Woody Harrelson

So yea, this song is about pot and yes that does say Woody Harrelson. Originally, I thought this song featured Marc Roberge of O.A.R., but numerous of my sources say that this is in fact your favorite Cheers bartender, Woody Harrelson. With that being said, this song goes much deeper than just pot. Listen to the lyrics, "fire burns for freedom"; this song is all about freedom, peace, love, and unity. Not to mention it also makes you wanna just dance your socks off. So sit back relax and enjoy the music.

All Time Low - I Feel Like Dancin'

Now this is music my friends! This song perfectly portrays how corrupt the music industry is these days. From the forged record label controlled "bands" to the music videos about sex, money and anything else that has no depth to it. All Time Low is staying true and stickin' it to the man on this one with "I Feel Like Dancin'" off their new album Dirty Work.

June 17, 2011

The Gourds - Gin n' Juice (Snoop Dogg Cover)

Ok folks, I wanna put an issue to rest here; this song has been floating around the internet for many years now and I have seen it being labeled as being Phish, Zac Brown Band, Dave Matthews, and even Guster. Its not any of these artists! This song is a cover of Snoop Doggs' "Gin n' Juice" done by The Gourds. Im sure your thinking "who the hell are The Gourds?" Well my friends, dont be fooled, these guys go hard and cover this song just as good as anyone else could. So, give these guys the credit they deserve for this outstanding, unique cover of "Gin n' Juice".

Ellie Goulding - Lights

This post may be out of my jurisdiction, but nonetheless I feel that this is a great song that needs to be shared with the blogger world. This lovely lady is a new artist from the UK and just recently won the 2011 UK Critics Choice Award. So dont be surprised if she hops the pond and lands some air time on US radio.

This track could quite possible be from The Weeknd's upcoming Thursday project. But, with the mystery behind this guy, does anybody honestly know?

J. Cole - Work Out

This time J. Cole is behind the leak of this single off his debut album (which is still untitled). The Kanye "New Workout Plan" sample is niiiice.

Mickey Factz - Letter To Sonic

I seriously co-sign the meaning behind this song. When Charles Hamilton first dropped I was one of his biggest Stans and now it's almost embarrassing to listen to some of his music. CH you gottta get better soon my man because we need you back in the game.

June 15, 2011

Face Tha Music - Quotes ft. Skyzoo

Face Tha Music lets loose of another banger, this time with some assistance from Skyzoo.

JoJo - Marvin's Room (Can't Do Better)

I expected somebody to hop onto or do a remix to Drake's hyped track "Marvin's Room". JoJo is one of the last people I would have expected it from. Remember her? The little girl who flooded the radio with her hits? Well, she's not so little anymore. Yikes. Oh, and she does a great job with the track. Expect the ladies to enjoy this one.

Jay-Z: Rap Is Poetry [Video]

This video serves as a promotion for his "Decoded" book that I'm slowly, but surely finishing up (since December). From what I've read so far, the book is certainly a must-read for any fan of Jay-Z or hip hop for that matter.

TreaZon - Vision [Mixtape]

For some reason, I knew absolutely nothing about this new TreaZon proejct dropping. With that said, in no way am I upset about it. Visions features tracks with Nero and Quest, and most of the production coming from Charlie Hilton as well as TreaZon himself. You can peep the tracklist and download below.
