BTH 2012 Freshman List

No matter what artists XXL chose for their always scrutinized Freshman cover, nobody's going to be completely happy. I'm sure even those who were choosing artists for the cover weren't even completely sold on some of the finally choices. To each his own right? Rather than complain about their 2012 Freshman cover, we went ahead and made our own list of hip hop artists on the rise this year. Ready...and...debate! Hit the jump for our list.

Jon Connor is starting a new series that he is calling "Best In The World" in which he remakes the work of some legendary hip-hop artists into his own. The first part of the series, called The Blue Album, is a tribute to Jay-Z, as you can see from the artwork derived from Hov's Blueprint album series. This mixtape was made in just five days and will be available for download on Valentine's Day. Take a listen to the first track from that project called 'Best In The World' in which Jon Connor remakes 'Hovi Baby'.

This may have dropped at noon today, but I was too busy listening to it on repeat to share it with everyone. Flint, Michigan's Jon Connor has been turning heads all over the internet since he dropped Season One over a year ago. Since then, he's released an album, The Salvation, and a number of other remixes and freestyles of popular tracks in which he pretty much embarrasses each of the original artists. Now, after the rumors of Season 2 being in the making for over 6 months, Jon Connor releases the follow-up to his successful mixtape just in time to enjoy as the year comes to a close.
